Tick 2.3.3

This application provides guidance for individuals bitten by ticks, including recommended procedures for safe removal. It features a hazard map indicating current tick bite risks across Switzerland and Liechtenstein, based on recent data. Users are encouraged to log tick bites and sightings in the integrated tick diary, facilitating personal record-keeping and trend analysis. The app’s reminder functionality allows users to compare photos of symptoms with the bite site, aiding in preliminary assessment. In cases where infection signs are observed—such as redness, swelling, or symptoms indicative of Lyme disease—it is advised to seek medical consultation promptly.

Reported bites and sightings submitted anonymously are visualized as pink or turquoise dots on the risk map, contributing valuable data to ongoing research efforts. We appreciate the public participation in this citizen science initiative, which supports applied research conducted by Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

The information section offers detailed insights into tick-borne illnesses, including recommendations for TBE vaccination and the lifecycle of Ixodes ricinus ticks.
